Do online casinos change the payout on slot machines?

The Return to Player (RTP), also known as payout, is naturally a very important concern of slot machine players, because it translates into how much, on average, a player wins from a specific slot machine. Each slot machine RTP is determined by the pay table and by how often is the algorithm programmed to hit. However, what ultimately determines which symbol combinations will come up on each spin is the random number generator (see question above). The RNG does not determine the payback. So how is payback determined? At land-based casinos, a slot machine's payback is determined (and can be changed) by the EPROM chip. That means any gambling establishment can change the payout percentage, as long as they have the EPROM chip. However, for your safety, gambling jurisdictions require that casinos report every time they alter the game’s Return to Player Percentage.
